Ukraine, Germany develop ballistic missile defense system

Fire Point and Hensoldt signed an MoU in Paris for the Freyja system, while the TerMIT unmanned vehicle will be made in Germany.

Ukraine and Germany have begun working together to develop anti-ballistic missile defense capabilities as Kyiv pushes for concrete results before winter. President Volodymyr Zelensky said the agreement was signed at the Ukraine Defence Contact Group, or Ramstein group, on June 18. According to Zelensky's office, the two countries will also co-produce TerMIT, a ground-based unmanned vehicle that can carry up to 300 kilograms of ammunition, equipment and water to the front line, with production taking place in Germany. ANTARA reported that Fire Point of Ukraine and Hensoldt of Germany had earlier signed an MoU at the Eurosatory exhibition in Paris to develop the ground-based anti-ballistic system Freyja. Zelensky also called on Western allies to strengthen long-range artillery, unmanned vehicles and long-term financing schemes for Ukraine's military.
