Uefa moves toward Swiss criminal case against Infantino

What's new: Uefa sought documents in Florida over a scrapped $4.2 billion plan to sell stakes in FIFA competitions.

Uefa is preparing criminal proceedings in Switzerland against FIFA president Gianni Infantino over the failed FIFA Forward Enterprise plan, which would have sold stakes in the World Cup and other competitions to private investors. Court filings cited by British media accuse Infantino of criminal mismanagement and say Uefa may also target other FIFA officials. As part of that effort, Uefa applied in Florida for access to records from FIFA entities based there. Uefa argues the proposal to sell a roughly 20% stake for $4.2 billion valued FIFA too cheaply at about $20 billion and was pushed through internal approval without proper oversight.
