UAE extradites Daniel Kinahan to Ireland under heavy security

What's next: Kinahan is due in Dublin's Special Criminal Court on a charge of directing a criminal organization.

Daniel Kinahan was flown from Dubai to Dublin on Sunday after the United Arab Emirates approved his extradition to Ireland, ending months of legal challenges. The 49-year-old was arrested in Dubai in April and is expected to be charged on arrival with directing a criminal organization before appearing in the Special Criminal Court. Irish authorities mounted a high-security transfer, including a newly acquired armored prison van. U.S. authorities in 2022 identified Kinahan as one of three leaders of the Kinahan Organized Crime Group and offered a $5 million reward tied to senior members. Irish and British investigators have linked the group to major drug and firearms trafficking and a long-running gang feud.
