U.S. general seeks exit as strike option on Iran stalls

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine has reportedly spent the past several weeks urging the White House to find a way to end the conflict with Iran. According to a CNN report cited by several media outlets, Caine считает the war has reached a critical point because military escalation could backfire on Washington. He discussed the issue with Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and CIA Director John Ratcliffe to align their positions before meeting President Donald Trump. Their central concern is that air power has limits and is unlikely to force Tehran to accept U.S. terms. A larger strike is also feared to trigger Iranian retaliation against U.S. allies and energy infrastructure in the Gulf region, while Trump is said not to have fully ruled out a major attack.
