U.S. ends 7-night strikes on Iran as death toll hits 38

The blockade of Iranian ports remains in force, while Teheran threatens to widen attacks to Kuwait and Yordania.

The United States Central Command said a seven-night military operation against Iran ended Friday night after a series of strikes that Iranian media said hit infrastructure in the south of the country and killed 38 people in total. CENTCOM said the final strike ended at 21.30 ET and targeted surveillance sites, military logistics, underground weapons depots and Iran’s maritime capabilities. Iranian media reports said explosions occurred in Pulau Qeshm, Bandar Abbas, Chabahar, Iranshahr and Bandar-e Khamir. Tasnim reported that the airport in Iranshahr was hit, while ISNA said the Bandar Abbas rail junction station was targeted and two people were wounded. Amid the escalation, Iran accused the U.S. of also striking civilian infrastructure. Teheran earlier responded by attacking U.S. military assets in Bahrain and claimed further strikes on Kuwait and Yordania.
