Tyra Banks sues Netflix over 'Top Model' docuseries editing
What's new: The suit seeks damages and an injunction blocking use of Banks' image tied to the show's soundtrack album.
Tyra Banks filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles federal court against Netflix, directors Daniel Sivan and Mor Loushy, and EverWonder Studio over the docuseries "Reality Check: Inside America's Next Top Model." The complaint alleges the producers cut a 3 1/2-hour interview to 16 minutes and edited it to create the false impression that Banks knew a contestant had been sexually assaulted during filming, exploited the trauma for ratings and then pretended not to remember it. Banks says she was not told she would be questioned about the assault, was not asked to fact-check the series after filming and was allowed to review it only a day before its Feb. 16 release. She is seeking damages and an injunction related to use of her image in connection with the soundtrack.
