Typhoon Bavi disrupted at least 18 Singapore Airlines and Scoot flights linking Singapore with Taipei, Tokyo, Sapporo and Seoul, as East Asia prepared for one of the region's strongest storms in years. SIA canceled four Singapore-Taipei flights scheduled for July 11 and moved two July 10 services to earlier departure times. Scoot scrapped 12 flights serving Tokyo, Sapporo and Seoul, with the Tokyo and Seoul routes stopping in Taipei. In Taiwan, Taoyuan airport canceled all Saturday departures, while authorities warned northern mountain areas could see up to 1 meter of rain and put about 29,000 soldiers on standby. Bavi was forecast to skirt northern Taiwan before making landfall in China's Fujian province on July 11.
