Two fake KPK agents hold elderly woman hostage in Tangsel, steal Rp300 million
Police arrested two suspects in Cianjur in under 24 hours and later found the victim’s Fortuner hidden in Karawaci.
Polres Tangerang Selatan arrested two men accused of posing as former inmates and KPK employees to deceive and strip an elderly woman identified as ITS (70) of assets worth about Rp300 million. The suspects, A (38) and EJ (45), were arrested in Cianjur, West Java, on 4 August 2026, less than 24 hours after the incident at the victim’s apartment in Serpong, Tangerang Selatan. Police said A first convinced the victim with a story about Rp3 miliar in assets allegedly seized by KPK and available for release, then asked for processing money. On the night of the incident, A allegedly locked the victim outside the bathroom, took a bag, cellphone, ATM card and car keys, then drove off with the victim’s Toyota Fortuner. The vehicle was later found hidden at an apartment complex in the Karawaci area of Tangerang.
