Tunisia fires Lamouchi after 1-5 loss, Herve Renard takes over

Renard will immediately lead preparations for the June 20 match against Japan as Tunisia sits at the bottom of Group F.

Tunisia changed coaches just one day after being routed 1-5 by Sweden in its opening Group F match at the 2026 World Cup at BBVA Stadium in Monterrey, Mexico. The Tunisia Football Federation appointed Herve Renard through the end of the tournament to replace Sabri Lamouchi, who had taken over only in January. Lamouchi was dismissed after a run of poor results: Tunisia lost 0-1 to Austria and 0-5 to Belgium in warmup matches, then won only once in five games under his management. Renard began work on Tuesday, June 16, with his first challenge against Japan on 20 June. Tunisia is now last in Group F, which also includes the Netherlands.
