Trump-Zelensky rift deepens despite Oslo meeting with envoy
Why it matters: The latest clash raises new doubts about US military support and intelligence sharing for Ukraine.
Tensions between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky appeared to worsen even as Zelensky met Trump envoy Steve Witkoff in Oslo. Zelensky cast Ukraine as still “working for peace” after the talks in the Norwegian capital, but the meeting did little to ease concern over the direction of US policy on the war. In recent days, Trump has publicly attacked Zelensky, calling him difficult to deal with and dismissing his criticism of a US diesel arrangement with Russia. Zelensky, in turn, told a US congressional delegation that some American decisions on support for Ukraine were hard to explain between friends and suggested aid had been slowed.
