Trump walks out of NBC interview amid fraud, Jan. 6 fund clash
What's new: Trump said he still backs the roughly $1.8 billion fund even after the acting attorney general moved to halt it.
President Donald Trump cut short a taped "Meet the Press" interview in Wisconsin after host Kristen Welker pressed him for evidence supporting his claims of election fraud and questions about a proposed fund tied to Jan. 6 defendants. During the exchange, Trump defended the roughly $1.8 billion "weaponization" or "anti-weaponization" fund, saying he personally wanted payments to proceed for people he said were harmed by the Biden administration. The proposal has drawn backlash from some Republicans and was blocked in court last month. Trump also repeated unsupported claims about the 2020 election and California vote counting before ending the interview and attacking NBC and other major networks.
