Trump visit forces Knicks to scrap Game 3 watch party near MSG
What's new: Fans were redirected to Central Park and Brooklyn Bowl, while Game 4 watch parties are expected to resume.
New York officials canceled the outdoor Knicks watch party near Madison Square Garden for Game 3 of the NBA Finals because of security tied to President Donald Trump’s planned attendance. The restriction covers only the area around the arena for June 8, and officials expect the watch parties to return for Game 4. Inside the Garden, fans were told to expect a no-bag policy, airport-style screening and earlier arrival times before the 8:30 p.m. tipoff. The Knicks pointed ticketless fans to alternate free events at Wollman Rink in Central Park and Brooklyn Bowl, both requiring registration. New York leads the San Antonio Spurs 2-0 in the series as the franchise chases its first title since 1973.
