Trump to fly old Air Force One to UK as Qatari 747 visits base

President Donald Trump said he will take the older Air Force One from Turkey to the United Kingdom while a newly overhauled Boeing 747 gifted by Qatar also goes to RAF Mildenhall. Trump wrote on Truth Social that US service members at the base will be allowed to tour the refurbished aircraft first. The jet, given to the United States by Qatar in 2025, was refitted by defense contractor L3Harris Technologies and repainted in a red, white, dark blue and gold color scheme selected by Trump. The aircraft's acceptance drew scrutiny because it required security upgrades, protected communications systems and missile-defense capability before it could be used.
