Trump threatens Hormuz tolls as Iran claims strait closure

What's next: Iranian and US negotiators are due in Switzerland as Washington says ship traffic is still moving through the waterway.

President Donald Trump threatened to impose US tolls in the Strait of Hormuz if a final agreement with Iran is not reached within 60 days, after Iran said it had closed the waterway over Israel's attacks in Lebanon. Iran's military said the move was a response to what it called a US breach of commitments under the interim deal. But US Central Command disputed that claim, saying 55 merchant ships carrying more than 17 million barrels of oil transited Saturday. Iran's team, including Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, left for Switzerland for technical talks with US negotiators, with Pakistan and Qatar involved as mediators.
