President Donald Trump moved to make Todd Blanche the permanent attorney general after Blanche had served in the acting role since April 2, following Pam Bondi's dismissal. The nomination lands as lawmakers from both parties scrutinize the Justice Department's release of Jeffrey Epstein records. In May testimony later released by the House Oversight Committee, Bondi said she had delegated oversight of that review to Blanche. Fox also reported Blanche had overseen the department's Anti-Weaponization Fund, which critics attacked as a political slush fund and a judge has temporarily blocked. The overlap could complicate Blanche's Senate confirmation fight in the weeks ahead.
