Trump strikes 9 drug-price deals tied to foreign Medicaid rates

President Donald Trump said Monday that his administration reached voluntary pricing agreements with nine drugmakers to lower what state Medicaid programs pay for certain outpatient medicines. The White House identified the companies as Alcon, Astellas Pharma, BeOne Medicines, BridgeBio, CSL, Kyowa Kirin, Sun Pharma, Teva Pharmaceuticals and UCB. Under the deals, Medicaid prices for the affected drugs would be aligned with what the companies charge in foreign countries. The medicines involved treat chronic and rare conditions including hemophilia, liver disease, skin disorders and some cancers. Trump said the agreements bring the administration to 26 drug-price deals in total under its revived most-favored-nation policy.
