Trump pushes Nov. 15 closure of D.C. golf course amid court fight
What's next: A federal judge ordered the government to explain whether Trump's post conflicts with its claim that no final action exists.
President Donald Trump moved to shut East Potomac Golf Course in Washington for 15 months starting Nov. 15, pressing ahead with a redesign of the historic public course while a legal challenge is still underway. Trump posted plans for an overhaul that he said could host major tournaments, including the U.S. Open and Ryder Cup. But Judge Ana Reyes last week halted redevelopment work at least through Oct. 26 after criticizing the government over large-scale tree removal with little notice. Reyes also ordered officials to say whether Trump's public timeline conflicts with a recent court filing that described the project as only preliminary. Opponents argue the plan would reshape a park space used by golfers, cyclists, picnickers and fishers.
