President Donald Trump backed away Friday from his earlier offer to let Ukraine produce Patriot interceptor missiles, saying the United States has "not agreed" to transfer that technology. The shift came weeks after Trump told President Volodymyr Zelensky at a NATO summit that Ukraine would get a license to make the air defense system. Zelensky had also said after a White House meeting this week that Trump accepted the request. Trump now says the idea is still under discussion and warned the technology is too sensitive to hand over lightly. Patriot systems are among Ukraine's most valued defenses against Russian ballistic missile and drone attacks, and Ukraine's air force has said a lack of interceptors is limiting its response.
