Tehran pushed back earlier, saying no direct talks were under way and that mediators were passing messages from Washington. The pause followed the collapse of an earlier ceasefire tied to reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Tensions remained high: Saudi Arabia said it intercepted drones launched by Iran-linked groups in Iraq, and Yemen’s Houthi rebels claimed attacks on Saudi oil infrastructure.
