Trump open to November summit with Putin and Xi in China

What's new: Trump framed nuclear arms and denuclearization as the main agenda at the proposed APEC sideline meeting in Shenzhen.

President Donald Trump said he was willing to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping in China in November, opening the door to a three-way summit among the leaders of the United States, Russia and China. The proposed meeting could take place on the sidelines of the APEC summit in Shenzhen on Nov. 18-19. Trump said the main purpose would be talks on nuclear weapons and denuclearization, while adding trade could also come up. The idea surfaced after a Wall Street Journal report said Putin proposed the meeting in an Oct. 9 call with Trump as part of discussions tied to the war in Ukraine. Beijing had not confirmed whether Xi would take part.
