Trump lets Flavio Bolsonaro stay in US indefinitely
He entered under discretionary parole through October 2027 as Brazil probes his departure despite a court order to hand over his passport.
President Donald Trump said Flavio Bolsonaro can stay in the United States for as long as he wants, days after the defeated Brazilian presidential candidate arrived in Miami. Speaking to reporters at a Halloween event at Mar-a-Lago, Florida, Trump said he did not plan to meet Flavio but said he had been treated “very badly.” Flavio, the son of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, lost to incumbent Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in the runoff last week. He then left Brazil despite a court order requiring him to surrender his passport in an investigation into alleged money laundering and financial crimes. Brazilian media reported that Flavio entered the US under discretionary parole valid until October 2027. Brazil is now investigating how his departure was allowed to happen.
