Trump claims U.S. Navy controls 100% of Strait of Hormuz
He also said non-Iranian ships are again passing through while U.S. forces have cleared mines he said Iran laid.
U.S. President Donald Trump claimed the U.S. Navy now fully controls the Strait of Hormuz and is enforcing a blockade on Iran. From the White House, Trump said ships other than those owned by Iran can again pass through the key global energy route, while those vessels are barred from entering Iranian ports during the blockade. He also said U.S. forces have swept the strait to search for and remove mines that he said Iran has occasionally laid. In a separate statement, Trump added that Washington controls Iran's money and will seek compensation in peace talks for those killed or wounded. The claims came amid the continuing war between the U.S. and Iran.
