Trump holds separate calls with Putin, Zelenskyy before G7
What's next: Ukraine is set to dominate this week's G7 summit in France, where Zelenskyy plans further talks with Trump.
President Donald Trump spoke separately Sunday with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as the war in Ukraine stayed at the center of diplomacy ahead of the G7 summit in France. Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said Putin's call with Trump lasted just under an hour and focused on ending hostilities, possible U.S.-Russia ties and Iran. Zelenskyy later said on Telegram that he and Trump discussed steps that could bring peace closer and agreed to continue talks at the G7. The calls came as fighting continued, with drone strikes reported in Russia and Ukraine and fresh pressure on Trump to show progress on a war he once said he could end quickly.
