President Donald Trump said he canceled a planned US attack on Iran after what he called the outline of a rapid deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end Tehran's nuclear threat. Trump wrote on Truth Social that Iran and other Middle Eastern countries had asked Washington to hold off, and he said Israel was aligned with that approach. Iran quickly pushed back. Mehr called Trump's account false, while acting Defense Minister Majid Ibn al-Reza said Tehran would treat every threat as real. The reversal followed reports that the US and Israel were weighing new strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure. US embassies in Iraq, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates warned Americans to stay alert or be ready to leave if fighting escalates.
