Trump defended Iran war, denied it broke his ‘no new wars’ vow

What's new: He argued the conflict is not an “endless war” because it began Feb. 28 and has lasted three months.

President Donald Trump pushed back on criticism that the war with Iran undercut his campaign line of “no new wars,” saying in an NBC interview that he never guaranteed there would be no conflict if he returned to office. He argued the fighting with Iran is not an “endless war” and said it began on Feb. 28, framing the campaign as necessary to stop Tehran from getting a nuclear weapon. In the same interview, Trump also defended his first-term withdrawal from the Obama-era nuclear deal and repeated unsupported claims that California’s slow primary vote count reflected fraud as late-counted ballots narrowed leads for his preferred candidates.
