President Donald Trump signed an executive order Monday creating the Presidential Military Spouse Commission, a White House panel meant to address the pressures facing military families. Trump said Jennifer Hegseth, the wife of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, will chair the commission.
The group is intended to give the administration direct input on issues including child care, housing, employment, health care and education for military spouses and children. Fox News reported that the commission will provide annual recommendations to the president and include Christie Mullin, the wife of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin, along with other military spouses representing the service branches and senior enlisted leadership.
Trump linked the effort to military readiness, framing family support as part of force strength.
