Trump backs nationwide permitless concealed carry push
What's new: Trump tied himself to a Senate bill that would override state permit rules and expand carry rights across the US.
President Donald Trump said his administration is “working on” nationwide right-to-carry legislation, signaling White House support for a federal push to expand concealed carry rights. Trump made the comment Tuesday at the Mack Trucks facility in Macungie, Pennsylvania, after recognizing National Rifle Association President Bill Bachenberg in the crowd. The remark came months after Sen. Mike Lee of Utah introduced the National Constitutional Carry Act, which would let eligible Americans carry concealed firearms nationwide without a permit. The bill would also bar states and local governments from imposing licensing requirements, fees or criminal penalties on otherwise lawful public carry, while keeping restrictions for people barred under federal law.
