Trump backs Darline Graham for full Senate term in South Carolina
What's next: Filing for the Aug. 11 special primary runs from July 21 to July 28 as other Republicans weigh bids.
President Donald Trump endorsed Darline Graham on Friday for a full term in the U.S. Senate, reshaping the race to replace her late brother, Lindsey Graham, in South Carolina. Gov. Henry McMaster appointed her earlier this week to serve the rest of his term, which ends in January. Trump had previously floated support for Rep. Russell Fry, while Rep. Nancy Mace, Rep. Ralph Norman and Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette have also been considering campaigns. The special primary filing period is set for July 21 through July 28, with voting on Aug. 11. Funeral services for Lindsey Graham are planned in Washington on July 28 and in South Carolina on July 29.
