TPS 3R GO-SARI in Bantul turns 3.5 tons of waste into Rp98 million monthly
The site serves 1,500 households, employs 27 residents and cuts power costs by up to 60% with a 6.6 kWp solar system.
TPS 3R GO-SARI in Guwosari, Pajangan, Bantul, DI Yogyakarta, processes about 3-3.5 tons of household waste a day into compost, livestock feed, recyclable materials and other products with economic value. The facility serves about 1,500 households, employs 27 residents and records total monthly revenue of about Rp98 million.
Waste management has been driven by rising household trash volumes and the closure of TPA Piyungan. Residents sort waste into the categories "bosok, rosok, popok, and bodongkok." Organic waste is turned into compost and Black Soldier Fly maggots for fish and livestock feed, including 458 laying hens that produce about 27 kilograms of eggs a day. HDPE plastic is transformed into eco furniture.
Since 2022, the program has been supported by PT Pertamina Patra Niaga. In 2026, operations were strengthened by a 6.6 kWp solar power system and a 10 kWh battery that, according to manager Hendry, cut the monthly electricity bill from Rp3.5 million-Rp4 million to Rp1.5 million-Rp2 million.
