Tokopedia denies mass layoffs as 200 workers take buyouts
The company said more than 100 openings remain in Indonesia as it reshapes staffing and offers internal transfers.
TikTok and Tokopedia management denied reports of mass layoffs after meeting with Deputy House Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad and Manpower Minister Yassierli at the House of Representatives in Jakarta on Monday, July 6, 2026. PT Tokopedia President Director Stephanie Susilo said there were no layoffs at TikTok or Tokopedia Group. She said the company is reorganizing its workforce through internal mobility, placement in other business lines, and compensation packages. Dasco said more than 200 workers chose to take compensation. Stephanie did not detail the total number of employees affected, but said some opted to work elsewhere. Amid the restructuring, Tokopedia is also opening more than 100 positions in Indonesia. Earlier social media rumors said 90 percent of employees, or about 1,250 workers, had been laid off.
