TNI recovers 2 weapons seized by OPM in Maybrat
The K3 Daewoo rifle was found a day after the Caracal, following questioning of Zakarias Fatem and two others.
Koops TNI Habema recovered two organic weapons belonging to Yonif 9 Marinir that were previously seized by the OPM Kodap IV/Sorong Raya group in Maybrat, Papua Barat Daya. The Caracal rifle and 17 rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition were secured on Friday (16/10), followed by the discovery of the K3 Daewoo rifle on Saturday (17/10). Both weapons were taken during an attack on Satgas Yonif 9 Marinir personnel in the Sory area on 22 March 2026. The joint operation involved Satgas Yonif 9 Marinir, Denkul 4/Rajawali V from Satgas Yonif 411/Pandawa Kostrad, and Satgas Yonif 764/IB. According to TNI, the weapons were found after further investigation into Zakarias Fatem, as well as Anton Fatem and Yesias Fatem. CNN Indonesia also reported that the team seized a handmade weapon, 19 rounds of ammunition, three magazines, and a scope.
