TNI moves large forces to Jakarta, numbers not disclosed
The TNI spokesman did not detail the mission or troop count, amid speculation the move may be tied to protest preparedness.
The TNI moved personnel in large numbers to Jakarta on Tuesday (4/11), with reports that the forces came from the three services. TNI Information Center head Maj. Gen. Muhammad Nas described the deployment as a routine part of carrying out state duties to protect the nation and maintain the integrity of NKRI. However, the TNI has not disclosed details of the mission or how many soldiers were shifted to the capital. Antara and CNN Indonesia reported that questions about whether the move was linked to preparations for demonstrations were not answered. Republika also reported a special telegram from TNI Commander Gen. Agus Subiyanto and said personnel from outside the region were brought to Jakarta for security, including elements from TNI AD, TNI AL, and TNI AU.
