TNI AL seizes 1.3 tons of ketamine from Tanzania ship in Kepri

65 sacks of ketamine were found on MV King Sun after the vessel was monitored for about three months; crew and documents are under review.

TNI Angkatan Laut, together with a joint team, seized 1,298 kilograms of ketamine from the foreign vessel MV King Sun in waters north of Tanjung Berakit, Kepulauan Riau. The load in 65 sacks was found after KRI Kerambit-627 inspected the Tanzania-flagged ship on Thursday, 6 August. Pangkoarmada RI Laksamana Madya TNI Denih Hendrata said the ship was then taken for further investigation into the cargo, documents and the possible presence of other prohibited items in the ship's compartments. Kepala BNN Suyudi Ario Seto said MV King Sun had been monitored for about three months because its movements were considered unusual. The ship carried eight crew members, all foreign nationals. TNI AL said the operation involved BIN, Polri, BNN and Bea Cukai.
