Kodaeral VIII foiled the smuggling of 1 ton of cyanide from Filipina in Sulawesi Utara waters on Friday, June 12, 2026. The operation by Team QR-8 targeted the white-and-blue pumpboat ARRIL from Filipina, which was sailing under an Indonesian flag. From the vessel, officers seized 20 sacks of cyanide weighing 50 kilograms each, or about 1,000 kilograms in total. The joint team also secured two bottles of Tanduay, two 1-liter bottles of Fundador, four 1-liter bottles of Mojito, and three Yamaha 18 PK outboard motors. Kodaeral VIII Commander Rear Adm. TNI Dery Triesananto Suhendi said the potential state losses prevented reached Rp1.008.420.000.
