TNI AD helicopter crashes during forest fire mission in Kalteng, 1 dead
Five crew members are being treated at RS Kuala Pembuang, while two others are still being evacuated after the 11.18 WIB incident.
A Mi-17V5 helicopter belonging to Penerbangan Angkatan Darat crashed while carrying out a mission to extinguish forest and land fires in Seruyan Regency, Kalimantan Tengah, on Wednesday (4/11). TNI AD said one crew member died, five others survived and are being treated at RS Kuala Pembuang, while two more crew members are still being evacuated. The accident occurred at around 11.18 WIB in the waters off Desa Sungai Perlu, Kecamatan Danau Sembuluh, as the helicopter was taking water for a water bombing operation. The aircraft had earlier taken off from Kuala Pembuang at 09.55 WIB bound for the fire area in Taman Nasional Tanjung Puting. TNI AD and a joint team deployed evacuation efforts by air and sea. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
