TNI AD denies Babinsa were tasked with tax collection or audits
TNI AD said there is no new assignment; Babinsa is only listed in a regional information network under SE-8/PJ/2026.
TNI Angkatan Darat said Babinsa were not assigned to collect, inspect or enforce tax law after controversy over Director General of Taxation Circular Letter No. SE-8/PJ/2026. TNI AD spokesperson Donny Pramono said there has been no new assignment and no change to Babinsa's main duties in taxation. He said the mention of Babinsa and Bhabinkamtibmas in the circular concerns only the building of a regional information network and coordination among agencies. All authority for monitoring taxpayer compliance, audits, collection and law enforcement remains with the Direktorat Jenderal Pajak. Director General of Taxation Bimo Wijayanto also said regional elements are not the main instrument because DJP relies on Coretax and monitoring based on geotagging.
