Tito urges local governments to expand sharia economy via Adinata 2026

Tito said Indonesia’s halal market still lags, while China, Brasil and Australia dominate halal certification.

Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian urged regional governments to expand the development of the sharia economy and halal industry while presenting the Anugerah Adinata Syariah 2026 at Transmedia Building, Jakarta, on Monday (6/7) night. Tito said the sector could become an important contributor to regional and national economic growth, while also opening access to international markets, including the Middle East. He pointed out that countries producing halal certificates are largely non-Muslim nations, such as China, Brasil and Australia. The Adinata Syariah 2026 awards were given to regional governments in three categories: Pioneering Sharia Economy School, Muslim-Friendly Tourism and Sharia Business Incubation. The event was held by KNEKS together with CNN Indonesia.
