Tito replaces Kemendagri inspector general in Jakarta swearing-in
The new inspector general is tasked with tightening oversight of regional governments and coordinating with KPK, BPK, BPKP, Ombudsman, and Komnas HAM.
Home Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian inaugurated senior high-ranking officials, special staff, and academic structural officials at the Ministry of Home Affairs at the Sasana Bhakti Praja Building in Jakarta on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026. One strategic post that changed hands was the inspector general of Kemendagri. Tito described the post as central to guiding and supervising the administration of regional government. Under Law No. 23 of 2014, the Kemendagri inspectorate coordinates oversight of regional government inspectorates at the provincial, regency and city levels. Tito also asked the inspectorate to strengthen coordination with KPK, BPKP, BPK, Ombudsman, and Komnas HAM, and to hold regular online meetings with regional inspectors.
