Tito pushes BSPS for 400,000 recipients, checks fee waivers

The Home Affairs Ministry will issue a circular, offer fiscal incentives to pro-housing local governments, and ask BPKP to oversee.

Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian is pushing to speed up the Bantuan Stimulan Perumahan Swadaya (BSPS) program, with a target of 400,000 recipients in 2026, alongside a plan for a Peraturan Menteri Perumahan dan Kawasan Permukiman. After a meeting at the BPKP office in Jakarta, Tito said Kemendagri and regional governments will support the house-renovation program for low-income residents. He also said he will check regions that have not waived Persetujuan Bangunan Gedung fees and Bea Perolehan Hak atas Tanah dan Bangunan for Masyarakat Berpenghasilan Rendah. Kemendagri is preparing a circular as a reminder and fiscal incentives for regional heads seen as supportive of housing. In the same meeting, the government discussed faster permanent housing for disaster victims in Sumatera, with BNPB handling in situ construction and the Kementerian PKP preparing housing for relocated residents.
