Tito issues circular urging local governments to host World Cup watch parties
The circular calls on regions to prepare public spaces, traffic, sanitation and security coordination through July 19.
Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian has issued a circular urging local governments to facilitate and initiate public watch parties for the 2026 World Cup according to their respective capabilities. Through circular No. 400.2.7/4657/SJ dated June 14, 2026, governors, regents and mayors are asked to prepare strategic locations and public spaces for viewing matches scheduled from June 11 to July 19. The support requested includes facilities, traffic management, sanitation and other technical assistance. Local governments are also asked to coordinate with Forkopimda to maintain security, order and comfort during the events. Tito said the watch parties can provide entertainment for the public while helping drive the local economy through UMKM, the business sector, BUMD and youth communities.
