Thai police said a 14-year-old boy accused in a mass shooting near Bangkok had studied firearms on social media and viewed violent content online before the attack that killed nine people, including himself. Investigators said a teacher had confiscated a BB gun from the student last year. Police are still examining motive and how he got ammunition for the legally registered gun that belonged to his grandfather. The boy allegedly killed his grandparents at home, then went to Debsirin Nonthaburi School in Bang Kruai district, where he killed two teachers and three staff members before shooting himself. More than 20 people were injured. Thailand's Education Ministry is preparing tighter school security measures, including mental health screening, emergency drills and checks to stop weapons from entering campuses.
