Take-Two wins subpoenas to trace GTA VI leaks on Discord, GitHub
What's next: Microsoft and Discord must provide account data by Sept. 4 as Take-Two tries to identify the people behind the posts.
Take-Two Interactive secured federal court orders on Aug. 21 requiring Microsoft and Discord to hand over data tied to recent Grand Theft Auto VI leaks. Court records show two judges in New York approved subpoenas seeking information that could identify three accounts linked to material posted on GitHub and shared in Discord chatrooms. To win the orders, the publisher argued the leaked videos and other material reproduced content protected by its copyright. The leaks have been tied to an account using the name Cyberleek. The dispute lands as Rockstar Games pushes a major marketing campaign ahead of an Aug. 27 Netflix presentation and the game's planned Nov. 19 global release.
