Sweden rout Tunisia 5-1 in Group F opener at World Cup

Sweden opened its 2026 World Cup campaign with a 5-1 rout of Tunisia in a Group F match at BBVA Stadium in Monterrey, Mexico, on Sunday local time. Graham Potter's side struck early through Yasin Ayari in the seventh minute, then doubled the lead through Alexander Isak in the 30th. Tunisia cut the deficit through an Omar Rekik header in the 43rd after a Hannibal Mejbri cross. In the second half, Sweden pulled away again through Viktor Gyokeres in the 59th minute and Mattias Svanberg in the 84th. Ayari's second goal in stoppage time sealed the Blagult's win before 50,987 spectators. The result puts Sweden in a strong position in a group that also includes the Netherlands and Japan.
