Suspended Pati Regent Sudewo’s first hearing guarded by 100 police
Sudewo faces trial in two cases: alleged DJKA project bribery and extortion tied to village official appointments in Pati.
Suspended Pati Regent Sudewo appeared for the first hearing in an alleged corruption case at the Semarang Anti-Corruption Court on Monday (15/6), under security from about 100 joint personnel from the Semarang Police. Security was tightened because hundreds of supporters filled the area in front of the courthouse on Jalan Suratmo, Semarang City, and to limit the number of visitors allowed into the courtroom. Sudewo faces two cases: alleged bribery in a project at the Directorate General of Railways of the Ministry of Transportation while he was still a member of Commission V of the House of Representatives, and alleged extortion related to the appointment of village officials in Pati Regency. The hearing was presided over by chief judge Edwin Pudyono, together with Kukuh Kalinggo Wuyono and Bonifasius Nadya Aribowo.
