North Sumatera to build 2 Nias Utara roads for Rp44 billion
The Nias Islands construction budget rises to about Rp500 billion this year from around Rp300 billion last year.
The North Sumatera Provincial Government has begun work this year on two road segments in Nias Utara Regency: Lotu-Lahewa, measuring 2.5 kilometers, and Lotu-Tuhemberuwa, measuring 4 kilometers, with a total budget of about Rp44 billion. North Sumatera Governor Bobby Nasution said both projects use hotmix construction and are among the priority developments in the Nias Islands. The Lotu-Lahewa segment is budgeted at more than Rp17 billion, while Lotu-Tuhemberuwa is allocated Rp27 billion. During a Sapa Daerah event in Lotu District, residents described the road as a key economic access route that has never been paved for decades. The provincial government is also preparing about Rp500 billion for development across five regencies and cities in the Nias Islands in 2026, up from around Rp300 billion the previous year.
