Sulawesi Selatan native found dead bound with tape in Armenia

Foreign ministry sent a diplomatic note on July 18 as Armenia said the victim and suspected perpetrators were both Indonesian citizens.

An Indonesian citizen from Sulawesi Selatan, Valenth A. Tambuto, was found dead in his dormitory room in Armenia with his hands, feet and mouth bound with tape. The family suspects Valenth was murdered after receiving information from the victim's girlfriend and co-workers. According to his younger brother, Arnold Tambuto, the family was told of a possible motive involving co-workers' debts and Valenth's refusal to join a plan to embezzle company funds. Indonesia's Foreign Ministry said the KBRI Kyiv has sent a diplomatic note to Armenia's Foreign Ministry since 18 July to seek consular access, handle the body and meet another Indonesian citizen who is facing legal proceedings. Armenian authorities gave initial information that the victim and the suspected perpetrators were both Indonesian citizens, and a number of Indonesians have been detained for investigation.
