Government rice stocks hit 5.3 million tons, record high
Bapanas forms Satgas Saber 2026 to monitor HET, HAP, quality and food safety in markets.
The National Food Agency said the government rice reserve managed by Perum Bulog has reached 5.33 million tons, the highest level since national records began. The figure is being used by the government to bolster Indonesia's food security amid global food inflation pressure and supply disruptions. Yudhi Harsatriadi Sandyatma, head of Bapanas' Food Supply Stabilization working group, said the current food balance, especially rice, is in a good position. To keep prices affordable, Bapanas also formed the Satgas Sapu Bersih Pelanggaran Harga, Mutu, dan Keamanan Pangan 2026 to oversee the Harga Eceran Tertinggi and Harga Acuan Penjualan. In addition, as of June 8, 2026, the Gerakan Pangan Murah had been held 5,237 times in 36 provinces and 377 regencies and cities.
