Former reality TV star Spencer Pratt has become a serious contender in the Los Angeles mayoral race after building a late surge in fundraising and online attention. With about two-thirds of ballots counted in Tuesday's primary, media projections showed incumbent Mayor Karen Bass advancing to the November runoff, while Pratt held a narrow edge over City Council member Nithya Raman for the second spot. Pratt, a Republican, raised $2.7 million between April 19 and May 16, far more than Bass or Raman in that period. His campaign has focused on criticism of Bass' handling of the 2025 fires and on issues including homelessness, drug treatment, public safety and city conditions.
