Speedboat capsizes off Vietnam's Phu Quoc, killing 15 Indian tourists

What's new: The boat carried 36 people, and India's embassy opened emergency centers in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

A speedboat carrying Indian tourists overturned off Phu Quoc island in southern Vietnam on Saturday, killing at least 15 people and leaving 21 survivors, local authorities said. The vessel was carrying 36 people: 32 Indian tourists, three crew members and one attendant. It flipped about 400 meters from shore while traveling from Hon May Rut Island to An Thoi Port, reports said. Officials cited rough seas, heavy winds and high waves as the likely cause. Tourist boats and coast guard vessels pulled some passengers from the water. India's embassy in Vietnam set up emergency response centers in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to assist families as rescue efforts continued.
