SpaceX slides more than 50% before its first post-IPO earnings

What's next: The report is due after the bell Tuesday as lock-up restrictions begin to expire, opening the door to more selling.

SpaceX heads into its first earnings report as a public company after a steep sell-off that has erased more than half the stock's value from its post-IPO intraday high. The shares are coming off a fourth straight weekly loss ahead of results due after the bell on Tuesday. CNBC reported the company has lost more than $500 billion in market value since its first trade, while short sellers have booked about $8.3 billion in paper gains. Investors are also watching the coming expiration of rolling lock-up restrictions, which could let early shareholders sell. On the company's investor forum, many of the most popular questions focused on Starship, Starlink and space-related plans rather than near-term finances.
